Family Tradition

Anthony found fresh shell beans at the farmers' market, just like the ones Non used in her famous Pasta Fagiole. She called it bean soup. Anthony remembers shelling the beans in her back yard, and invited Vinny to do the same. Expecting this chore to last no more than a couple minutes, Vinny surprised Anthony by helping shell the whole box! "One more Daddy?" he'd ask.
No, we haven't made the soup yet, but the beans are waiting in the freezer for the next chilly day. Then, soup's on! That is once I decode the measurements...Louise asked Non long ago to give her the recipe, and as only an Italian grandmother might say, a little of this, a pinch of that.
